Frederick John Metzler, 23, carpenter, died attempting to save Christian M. Klug, 22, cork splicer, from drowning, West View, Pennsylvania, July 5, 1920. King was swimming in a reservoir 25 feet from the bank, where the water was 10 feet deep, and called for help. Metzler plunged in the water from the bank and swam to him. Klug threw his arms around Metzler’s neck, and they immediately went under the surface. Both were drowned. 20551-1599
