Franklin H. Holdridge attempted to save William A. Glaze from suffocation, Neponset, Illinois, June 22, 1907. Holdridge, 35, farmer, was lowered with a rope around him to the bottom of a 65-foot well, where Glaze, 30, had been overcome by gas. He tied the rope around Glaze, and both were drawn out. The rescuer was white and limp, but he revived. Glaze could not be resuscitated. 1804-202
