Frank Forrest assisted in an attempt to save Oscar Colson and helped to save Henry C. Myers from drowning, Norwood, North Carolina, August 3, 1909. During a flood of the Yadkin River, Forrest, 53, farmer, and another man, in a bateau, paddled 400 feet from shore to Colson, 27, who was clinging to a wrecked flatboat. They had gotten Colson aboard when the bateau capsized. Colson and the other man were drowned. Forrest swam downstream 500 feet and was rescued by his son in a boat; then running along the bank 1.25 miles upstream to get above Myers, 62, who was in a clump of trees 400 feet from land, he secured another boat and, accompanied by his son, rescued Myers.. 4104-353
