Frank Billings Johnston, 15, student, saved Daisy A. Hooper, 24, from drowning, Lindsay, Ontario, July 25, 1917. While swimming in the Scugog River where the water was 10 feet deep, Miss Hooper’s feet became entangled in weeds. She could not free herself and went under the surface twice. Frank swam 50 feet to her, and she took hold of him around his neck. She then lost consciousness, and Frank swam with her 20 feet to a wharf. 18457-1620
