Emilio Marchionne saved Romano Ferrer from drowning, Chelsea, Massachusetts, June 7, 1978. Ferrer, 25, was in deep water in Chelsea Creek when he got into trouble and began thrashing wildly. Although still recovering from knee surgery, Marchionne, 60, entered the water, swam to Ferrer, and took hold of him. Ferrer’s struggles caused Marchionne to be submerged briefly twice. Ferrer then lost consciousness; and Marchionne towed him to the bank, where he revived.
