Edward F. Espitee, 19, mason, died attempting to save James Norman, 16, farmhand, from drowning, New Preston, Connecticut, June 20, 1929. While James was swimming in Lake Waramaug, he became distressed in water 15 feet deep at a point 90 feet from shore. Espitee jumped from a raft about eight feet from him and got within reach of him. James grasped Espitee and climbed upon his back. After a brief struggle, both sank and were drowned. 29405-2359
