David Lee Lancaster saved an indeterminate number of people from possibly being shot, Duncan, Oklahoma, June 3, 1980. When an armed man entered a restaurant and threatened the lives of everyone there, Lancaster, 19, machinist, charged the gunman from behind, grasping his arms and pulling back sharply. The gunman fired, the bullet striking Lancaster in the right foot. In an ensuing struggle, Lancaster wrenched the handgun from the gunman’s hand. The police arrived and arrested the gunman. Lancaster recovered from his wound.
