David Keijonen attempted to save Charles Hermanson, 46, laborer, from drowning, Hancock, Michigan, December 20, 1920. (See case of CHARLES HERMANSON.) Keijonen, 29, laborer, wearing skis, reached a point within four feet of Hermanson, after going about 170 feet over the ice, and extended a stick to him. As Keijonen started to pull Hermanson out of the hole, he also broke through, losing his stick and his skis. He supported himself at the edge of the hole until another man went to him from the bank and drew him out of the hole by means of a pike pole. Keijonen then got to the bank safely. 22314-1785
