Clyde E. Kronk, 25, shopkeeper, died attempting to save Orville Sizemore, 10, from drowning, New Boston, Ohio, December 9, 1916. A truck on which Orville and two men were riding skidded and ran off an embankment into Millbrook Lake. The two men were helped out of the water by persons who gathered on the embankment, but Orville remained struggling 12 feet from the embankment, where the water was 12 feet deep. Kronk swam to Orville, but Orville grasped him around the neck, and Kronk seemed unable to progress shoreward. A man swam out, seized Orville at the back, and got ashore with him, but Kronk sank and was drowned. 17439-1293
