Charles Raymond Griffin, 15, schoolboy, attempted to save Walter F. Liddle, 38, carpenter, from drowning, Buffalo, New York, January 19, 1929. Charles, who was on the ice, ran 15 feet over broken ice to within reach of Liddle and grasped his hand. He pulled Liddle out of the water until his stomach rested on the cake of ice. The ice then tilted under Charles, and he fell into the water but got out without help. (See case of WALTER F. LIDDLE.) 29078-2324
