Charles R. McCabe, Jr., 20, insurance agent, saved George M. Cummins, 23, chief clerk, from drowning, Sayner, Wisconsin, June 28, 1909. McCabe, wearing heavy, high?top leather boots, dived from his boat and swam to Cummins, who had been seized with a cramp in his arms, in Lost Lake, 200 feet from shore. Recovering the use of his arms, Cummins wrapped them about McCabe’s neck and his legs about his body, and, struggling together, the two went to the bottom. They came up together, when McCabe got free and towed Cummins 20 feet. A man arrived in a boat, and McCabe grasped it and lapsed into semiconsciousness. Both were taken to shore and revived. 3991-435
