Charles Henry Murphy, 57, railroad conductor, saved Louise Fraser, 45, from being killed by a train, Appleton, Wisconsin, May 14, 1930. Mrs. Fraser started to cross a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of 25 m.p.h. Murphy, who was standing near the track, took two quick steps to her and grasped her as she was stepping over the rail, the locomotive then being 20 feet from them. He pulled her from the track just before the locomotive began to pass them at undiminished speed.
