Carl H. Enderlin, 31, coal company manager, saved Anton Barleon, 74, printer, from being killed by a train, Chillicothe, Ohio, September 29, 1913. Barleon, who was feeble and deaf, started slowly across a track 50 feet ahead of a passenger train that was moving at a speed of 10 m.p.h. Although doubtful whether he could reach Barleon in time, Enderlin ran after Barleon and leaped against him, reaching him at the middle of the track, when the locomotive was only three to six feet away. Both men fell clear of the track without being struck. 11831-1295
