Brian K. Miller helped to save Benjamin J. Burgraff from drowning, Harvey Cedars, New Jersey, September 18, 1974. While swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, Burgraff, 21, was heard calling for help as he floundered in the water about 450 feet from shore. Brian, 17, high school student, and another youth swam to Burgraff, passing through a line of breakers to reach him. Burgraff struggled briefly, but Brian and the other youth held him between them and towed him shoreward. After passing through the breaker line and an area of diverted currents, all then found footing and waded to shore.
