Bert M. Keirsey saved an unidentified man from being run over by a train, Greenville, Texas, November 4, 1914. An infirm old man started to cross a track on which a passenger train was approaching at a speed of about 12 m.p.h., the locomotive being only about 40 feet from him when he reached the track. Keirsey, 43, conductor, ran about 12 feet and reached the man when the locomotive was about 10 feet from him. He grasped the man and drew himself backward off the track, pulling the man with him. Neither was struck, but they barely escaped. 13884-1078
