Bernard F. McMahon, 24, pumper, assisted in an attempt to save Everett O. Walcott, 26, oil-tank loader, from suffocation, Lawrenceville, Illinois, June 5, 1912. (See case of NOAH HOOD.) McMahon, who had run 400 feet to the tank, descended into it after Hood was drawn out. He knew what had caused the accident. He tied the wire around Walcott and pulled on the wire as he climbed a ladder to leave the tank. Men above also pulled on the wire, and Walcott was taken from the tank, but he could not be revived. 11634-858
