Anna Rita Urban, 31, housewife, saved an unidentified young woman, about 19, from drowning, Amityville, New York, July 24, 1948. Mrs. Urban swam 75 feet to the woman, who was in water seven feet deep. The woman, who was hysterical, grabbed Mrs. Urban at the shoulders; and they were briefly submerged. As they rose Mrs. Urban forcibly broke the hold and obtained another hold on her. With waves breaking over them and buffeting them, Mrs. Urban towed the woman, who kept screaming and squirming, 60 feet and helped her wade to shore. Mrs. Urban was tired and winded. After resting briefly, she assisted Miss Davidson to take her husband to shore. Mrs. Urban then collapsed from exhaustion but recovered. (See case of BARBARA V. DAVIDSON.)
