Andrew Ozminkowski, 45, woodworker, sustained fatal injuries attempting to save Albert F. Goeppinger, 31, auditor, from electric shock, Chicago, Illinois, October 27, 1923. Goeppinger, who was standing on wet ground, got in contact with a wire that was touching one or two wires, each carrying a current of 1,100 volts. He was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground with the wire resting on his wrist. Ozminkowski, although warned to keep away from Goeppinger, ran to him and leaned over him. He then received a shock in an undetermined way and fell across Goeppinger, and his clothing caught fire. The wire was soon pushed away from them by other men, but both were fatally injured. Goeppinger died the following day, and Ozminkowski died six weeks later. 24047-1926
