Alexander Morton, Sr., 56, miner, saved Louis Davidson, 30, salesman, from drowning, Revere, Massachusetts, August 19, 1908. Morton, who was recuperating from injuries received in a mine, swam 150 feet to Davidson, who had become distressed in water six feet deep at Revere Beach. He was grasped by the shoulder and pulled under the surface. Upon coming up, they were separated, and Morton shouted for help while he swam 20 feet with Davidson, who was semiconscious, and grasped the hand of a man who had waded out from shore.
