Alberta I. Ludlum, 24, teacher, died attempting to save Adelaide A. Lockwood, 23, from drowning, Ogdensburg, New Jersey, August 8, 1916. Miss Lockwood became distressed 35 feet from the shore of Hawthorne Lake. Miss Ludlum swam 50 feet to her and seized her, but Miss Lockwood grasped Miss Ludlum. A struggle ensued, and both young women sank and were drowned. 17110-1270
