Albert Judson Mead, 17, schoolboy, died attempting to save Charles A. Andres, 16, schoolboy, from drowning, Jeffersonville, Indiana, July 3, 1927. While Charles was swimming in an old sand pit, he became distressed in deep water 10 feet from the bank. Albert dived from the bank and rose close to him. Before Albert could take hold of him, Charles grabbed Albert and climbed upon him. Albert was submerged, and a few seconds later Charles went under the surface. Both were drowned. 27642-2320
