Abner L. Kuykendall, 31, yardmaster, saved an unknown man, 62, from being run over by a train, Beaumont, Texas, December 21, 1907. Standing on the end of the first of 20 cars being pushed by a locomotive upwards of 3 m.p.h., Kuykendall saw the man step on the tracks and warned him. The man stood still, dazed, and when about 8 feet from him, Kuykendall jumped in front of the car, against the man. Both fell but managed to get outside of the rail before the wheels reached them. 2903-230
