A. Reza Keshavarzi rescued Laura L. Porter from assault, West Olive, Michigan, October 28, 1995. Ms. Porter, 40, was being beaten by a man armed with a tire iron, on a bicycle path in a residential area. Keshavarzi, 35, executive, saw the assault from his nearby house and immediately ran to the scene. He pushed the assailant off Ms. Porter, but the assailant recovered and struck her in the head. When the assailant, who outweighed Keshavarzi by almost 100 pounds, raised his hand to strike Ms. Porter again, Keshavarzi grasped him from behind and took him to the ground. During the men’s ensuing struggle, Ms. Porter escaped to Keshavarzi’s house. Keshavarzi calmed the assailant and remained with him until police arrived and arrested him. Ms. Porter was hospitalized two days for treatment of her injuries. Keshavarzi recovered from minor injury.
